Children's Clinic

Supporting healthy movement from the very beginning

From first steps to first sports injuries, growing bodies go through a lot. At Startline, we offer specialist care to support children and teenagers as they grow, move and bounce back from life’s knocks.

Our approach is gentle, effective, and always tailored to the child in front of us – whether they’re an active 8-year-old with growing pains, or a teenage footballer recovering from an injury.

Why See A Specialist

What we treat:

  • Children with posture issues, coordination concerns or growing pains
  • Teenagers with sports injuries, muscle imbalances or rehab needs
  • Young athletes recovering from sprains, strains, or repetitive injuries

Not Just Little Adults

Joss has postgraduate training in Specialist Paediatric Osteopathic Practice, and years of experience working with young people – both clinically and in sports coaching. He understands the difference between growing bodies and adult ones, and he knows how to connect with kids and teens on their level.

Whether your child is building strength after injury, struggling with movement, or just not quite feeling “right”, we’ll help them move better, feel better and grow with confidence.

What To Expect From Your Childs Appointment

If it’s your first time hearing about osteopathy, or you’ve got your first appointment coming up, you can learn about what to expect in these FAQs.

Each appointment starts with a gentle, detailed assessment. We’ll chat with you sand your child about your their health, lifestyle, and any symptoms you’ve both noticed. Then, we’ll carry out a hands-on assessment to understand how your child is moving and where any imbalances or tension might be.

Not at all. Treatment is gentle and tailored to your child’s age and needs. For children and teenagers, it may include more traditional osteopathic techniques, stretching, and movement-based rehab.

That depends on what we’re treating. Some issues respond quickly; others may need a short course of care. We’ll always keep you informed, and we’ll never over-treat or overcomplicate things. Our goal is to support your child’s development, not make you reliant on appointments.

Any notes from previous healthcare visits, if relevant. Feel free to bring their favourite toy, book or snack – we want them to feel relaxed and at ease. For babies, bring whatever you’d normally pack for a change or feed.

Yes. Paediatric osteopathy is safe, gentle, and specifically adapted for growing bodies. Joss is trained in specialist paediatric care and always works with the comfort and safety of your child as the top priority.

The principles are the same — but the techniques are adapted. With teens and young athletes, we focus more on performance, strength, and injury prevention.

For older children, treatment may involve a combination of techniques, including soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation and spinal manipulation.

For any child below the age of 16, it’s a legal requirement for a person with parental responsibility to be present for the appointment. Should you have any questions, please contact reception, Joss will be happy to call you back.
